Dave Bautista who is popularly known to WWE fans as Batista rose to fame as part of the legendary stable, Evolution which is led by none other than the “The Cerebral Assassin” himself, Triple H. Upon breaking away from the faction, Batista’s career began to reach new heights from winning his first-ever World Heavyweight Championship way back at Wrestlemania 21 up to winning multiple Tag Team championships together with Rey Mysterio (2006) and John Cena (2008).
Batista left WWE in 2010 and it was no secret that his first run with the company ended on a sour note and though there has been an attempt by the WWE to have “The Animal” back for good, the return has been nothing but “unsuccessful”.
However, it does not mean that WWE should stop pursuing the now-Hollywood star from returning to the squared circle for good.
Here are 3 ways that WWE can bring back Dave Bautista to the WWE
#3 Let Batista become a part-time megastar
Despite having a lackluster number of returns to the WWE, Batista has enjoyed a quite successful Hollywood career as part of the blockbuster Marvel movie franchise Guardians of the Galaxy, and as the lead actor in Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead.
Given his Hollywood success, there is no way that Batista will completely give up his acting career just to return to the squared circle full time.
The best chance that the WWE has in getting back the powerhouse superstar is to offer him a part-time contract which is similar to what Brock Lesnar and John Cena have with the company.
#2 WWE Studio projects for Batista
This is almost similar to #3 except that if WWE is determined to have Batista back as a committed part-time superstar just like Cena and Lesnar, WWE must show that they truly recognize Dave as one of their most prized superstars turned Hollywood celebrities.
This could be done by producing a series of movies with Batista as the lead star which is similar to the outside-the-ring opportunities they have given to the likes of Cena, Orton, and The Miz.
#1 Re-establish Batista as a Heel
Though Batista had quite a successful run as the top babyface of WWE, it can be argued that The Animal was set to elevate his career to even greater heights with his newfound entitled heel persona in the fall of 2010 as he captures his 6th (and final) World Heavyweight Championship.
The former World Champion is on the height of his heel run right before his infamous “I quit” statement while sitting on a wheelchair.
In January 2014, Batista made his return as a part of the 27th annual Royal Rumble match which he had won after eliminating “The Big Dog” Roman Reigns. However, it was negatively received by fans as they believed that it was already The Yes! Movement leader Daniel Bryan’s time to win the inaugural event.
It was believed that WWE’s initial plan is to have Batista return as a babyface and for him to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Randy Orton on the 30th Annual Wrestlemania.
According to reports, however, Batista himself is skeptical about returning as a babyface as he believes that it would not be received well by the fans.
